Tribute & Message From The Family

KINGSFORD - Bernice M. Manninen, 77, of 909 Olympic St. Kingsford, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the home of her daughter.
She was born on March 28, 1932 in Calumet, MI daughter of the late Thomas and Genevieve (Marcotte) Huot. Bernice married Robert C. Manninen on June 20, 1953 in Calumet, MI. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1998. Bernice resided in Bergland for most of her life and moved to Kingsford four and a half years ago to be near family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland and currently a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingsford. Bernice enjoyed crafts and needlework including knitting, crocheting and cross stitch. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Larry Manninen of Tampa, FL; a daughter, Roxanne (Don) Maki of Kingsford; two brothers, Donald Huot of Minneapolis and Gordon Huot of Calumet, MI; a sister, Rita Wiinomaki of Mohawk; two grandchildren, Spencer (Andrea) Maki of Niagara and Robert (Rachel) Maki of Quinnesec; five great grandchildren, Spencer, Jaida, Keira, Shawn and Emmah Maki; and several nieces and nephews.
Bernice was preceded in death by a brother, Jerome Huot.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00pm EST on Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland, MI. A memorial service will follow at 1:00pm EST at the church. Rev. Howard Neider will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory to the cancer society.

Roxie and Don,
We are so sorry about your loss. We know how you feel and our hearts break for all of you. Althought we did not know your Mom, we know that she was so lucky to have a daughter and a family who loved her and took care of her until her dying day. She was a very lucky lady and I am sure that the world was lucky to have her in it.

My deepest and sincere sympothy for the loss of your dear mom. Mine died a year ago April 2 and I still miss here daily. I'm in the phone book or email me back..Jim and I still live in Ft. Laud. and doing well. God Bless you and your family.
