IRON MOUNTAIN - Anna M. Richards, 85, of Iron Mountain, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at ManorCare Health Systems in Kingsford.
She was born on April 2, 1922, in Washburn, Wis., daughter of the late George and Mildred (Molnaa) Anderson. She married Charles F. Richards in Detroit in 1940, and he preceded her in death in 1954.
She attended school in Kingsford, and returned for her diploma and graduated in 1981. Anna worked in the meat department at the Super Value from Oct. 10, 1963, until retiring on March 29, 1985. She moved back to the area in 1954 after the death of her husband Charles.
She was a member of the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. She was the treasurer of the bowling league for many years. She loved knitting and crocheting, and made many people happy, especially at church with her baby blankets, prayer shawls, and bandages, she was always there to help. Anna was one of the world's biggest country music fans. Charlie Pride was her idol. She had gone with family every year to the Hodag, Porterfield, and Motongator country music festivals.
She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte (Neil) Edwards of Iron Mountain; a granddaughter, Lisa Sarder of Iron Mountain; two great-grandsons, Brad and Corey Sarder; sisters, Dorothy Maule of Kingsford, Thalia (Robert) Cocking of Iron Mountain, Betsie Benzie of Norway, and Karen (Cliff) Peronto of Kingsford; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Anna was preceded in death by a brother, Dick Anderson in 2005.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.
The funeral service will follow at 12 noon Wednesday at the church. Pastor Lee Liverance will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Anna's great-grandsons, Brad and Corey Sarder; nephews, Tony Benzie and Mike and Joe Plourde; and friend of the family, Kyle Frendewey.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
