HOMESTEAD, Wis. - Carl J. Kriegl, 88, of Homestead, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at the Beverly Living Center in Florence.

He was born on Nov. 4, 1918, in New Haven, Wis., son of the late Martin and Agnes (Walrath) Kriegl. Carl served for two years in the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician Third Class during World War II.

He married Florence Haas on June 8, 1940. She preceded him in death in November 1975. Carl married Doris Valitchka on Oct. 2, 1976. He worked as a welder for the Ford Motor Co. and Lake Shore Inc. until his retirement. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, playing cards and gardening. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carl is survived by his wife, Doris; sons, Jerry (Donna) Kriegl of Quinnesec and Jack (Simone) Kriegl of Spread Eagle, Wis.; daughters, Yvonne (David) Olsen of Homestead and Sandy (Jay) Schabloski of Oshkosh, Wis.; stepchildren, Judy (Joe) Dolson and Dorothy Wilkey, both of Kelly Lake, Wis.; 14 grandchildren, Jaime (Tammy) Kriegl of Norway, Darren (Beverly) Kriegl of Escanaba, Shelley (Robert) Majewski of Peshtigo, Wis., Jennifer (Wyatt) Fisher of Oshkosh, Sue (Ron) Beauchamp of Ashwaubenon, Wis., Mike (Carrie) Olsen of Minneapolis, Deb (Jeff) Corbett of Brookfield, Wis., Joe (Laura) Kriegl of Kingsford, John (Nicole) Kriegl of Spread Eagle, Aundrea (John) Coon of Fond du Lac, Wis., Jaclynn (Jason) Kreider of Howell, Mich., Holly Schabloski of Oshkosh, J.P. (Angela) Schabloski of Oshkosh and Lauren Schabloski of Oshkosh; 27 great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, Kelly Tomko of Lodi, Wis. and Robin and Diane Tomko of Florida; one step-great-grandchild and one step-great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and first wife, Florence, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Herman Molle and brothers, Paul, Jess and Merle Kriegl.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Visitation will also be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Homestead Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Rev. Brad Moore will officiate.

Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jaime Kriegl, Darren Kriegl, Mike Olsen, Joe Kriegl, John Kriegl and J.P. Schabloski.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
