Duaine F. Schaut,
74 of Aurora, passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011 at his home. He was born on July 10, 1937 in LaBranche, Michigan, son of the late Clifford P. and Louise M. (Gunville) Schaut. Duaine was raised in this area and in May of 1955 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served with the Air force for twenty two years, retiring in 1977. Duaine married the former Frances Chrisman on December 8, 1956 in Milwaukee, WI. Following Duaine's retirement from the Air Force, they returned to the area and he worked as an electrician for Pride Manufacturing and Grede Foundry for over seventeen years, retiring again in 2000. Duaine was a member of American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, cutting firewood and hunting. Duaine especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Connie DeBock and Jeanine Paquin and two brothers, Donald and Garris Schaut.
He is survived by his wife, Frances
Sons, Joseph (Susan) Schaut of Mt. Horeb, WI, Steven (Jackie) Schaut of Kingsford, Robert (Pam) Schaut of Salina, KS and Daniel (Sharon) Schaut of Salt Lake City, UT
Brother, James (Sharon) Schaut of Beecher, WI; sisters, Sharon Felice of Detroit, MI and Betty (Lester) Paquin of Detroit.
Grandchildren, Elizabeth and Harold Schaut, Jeremy Wolfe; Michael, Tyler and Trever Schaut; Jami Schaut and Sara Schaut. Great grandchildren, Miya and Adryan Garcia.
Step Mother, Cybil Schaut of Iron Mountain. Also by, many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Melody Schaut and numerous brothers and sisters in law.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00pm to 6:30pm at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The funeral service will be on Friday at 11:00am at American Martyrs Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of the Christian burial.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
