FayeI.Tirschel, 83, of 1411 W. Ludington St. in Iron Mountain, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

She was born on Feb. 11, 1927, in Kingsford, daughter of the late Lenas Gustafson and Inez (Olson) Gustafson-Morneau. Faye was a 1945 graduate of Iron Mountain High School and has been a lifelong resident of this area.

She was married to James Tirschel for more than 60 years before he preceded her in death in 2004.

Faye was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She loved children and was known by both children and adults as Baby Faye.

Faye is survived by her daughter, Gaylyn (Al) Ziehm of Kingsford; a brother, Allyne (Donna) Gustafson of Green Bay, Wis.; her sisters, LaVerne Barnes of Iron Mountain, Bonnie (Fran) Paquette of Iron Mountain and Gail Ferrara of Kentucky; grandchildren, Kyle (Amy) Ziehm of Iron Mountain, Richard (Ann) Ziehm of Nebraska, Darryl Ziehm of Menasha and Carla (George) Anderson of Kingsford; great-grandchildren, Sonja Hamm, Michael James Tirschel, Jennifer Connors, Joe Paul (Kayla) Plourde, Drew, Wesson, Daniel, Alyssa and Maggie Ziehm, David Ziehm and Daina (Ryne) Philippi, Hillary, Nick and Lindsey Chapman; many great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves a very special friend, Janet Friedman, who was her very own guardian angel that God sent to make her last years easier.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Tirschel; a granddaughter, Kelly Loar; her brothers, Tiny and Neil Gustafson; and sisters, Ruth Gustafson, Helen Tappy and Lorraine Klenc.

Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon &Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Kevin Sullivan will officiate.

Burial will be in the Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.

Honorary pallbearers will be, Dane Paquette, Kyle Ziehm, Brian and Eric Gustafson.
