"Mary Huggett"
IRON MOUNTAIN - Mary Fitch Huggett, 91, of Iron Mountain., died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at Victorian Pines in Iron Mountain.
She was born in Atlanta, on July 26, 1914, daughter of the late James Briggs and Eula (Varnell) Fitch. At the age of seven, she moved with her family to Manchester, N.H., and then to Chicago where she attended and graduated with a bachelor's degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
Mary married John M. Huggett in New York City in 1940. She and John spent more than 30 years of their married life in Pittsburgh, Pa. and then they moved to Grand Rapids, lower Michigan in 1980. In 1999, she moved to Spread Eagle, Wis. to live with her son Charlie and daughter in-law. The last two years, she spent at Victorian Pines Estates in Iron Mountain. She was an avid reader and was extremely sharp minded.
Mary is survived by her two sons, James (Michele) Huggett of Earlysville, Va., and Charlie (Micheline) Huggett of Spread Eagle. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1983 and by her daughter, Anne Pride in 1989.
A family gathering will be held on Oct. 8 at the home of her son, Charlie in Spread Eagle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florence County Public Library.
